What “Volumetric Weight” Means (and Why It Matters)
Airlines charge whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric (dimensional) weight.
Formula (cm):
(Length × Width × Height) ÷ 5000 = kg (volumetric)
Example:
A box 60 × 40 × 40 cm weighs 12 kg on a scale.
Volumetric = 60×40×40 ÷ 5000 = 19.2 kg → charged as 19.2 kg.
Tip: Pack compactly and remove empty space to avoid paying more.
